these few days i had been brainstorming about the cosplay.
To make a CosplaySkit...
1st : Script and Plot - The characters, script, and actors are determined through lots of brainstorming on boards and chatting online. We figure out who's available, who wants to cosplay who, and etc. Usually the anime/manga/game is picked, and then a script is written, usually by a single person, then critiqued by the rest.
2nd: Voice recording - Instead of all reading into the microphone for a full run through, actors take turns in front of the mike, saying one line at a time. All the lines are placed together in a sound mixer
3rd: Cosplay - this is the big one. As everyone knows, cosplay is the CORE of our skits (though it is not noticed by much) Many of us work weeks and months on a certain costume; sometimes we split the work between props and outfits, and a great majority of the cosplay are not bought or commissioned. We truly hope that everyone here can enjoy the love of cosplay.
4th: Storyboard - Some skits has had a storyboard sketched to understand the camera direction for the skit taping. This is usually a good idea, in order to cut down on taping time due to lack of ideas on the spot.
5th: Skit Taping - the next available time for the actors to work together, we get on location and skit tape. This usually takes an entire day due to getting into cosplay and bloopers, but we have wonderful grips (other JAC members) who help us out and entertain us. We usually ignore background noise and simply hook up a recording to get the lipsyncing right (or sometimes we're too lazy, and let's see if you can catch that ^_^)
Lastly: Editing and finishing touches - The movie is uploaded into the computer and editied, currently using Adobe Premiere Pro. This takes days, as there are multiple takes and shots. The voice recording is simply overlayed over the soundtrack; however, this creates not very good sound quality. When there is time, JAC would like to try on camera voice work and sound...Bloopers and extras are also put together, and all is uploaded then to the site.
